Form 2290 is an annual return that needs to be filed every year. The tax period to file the return begins July 1 and ends on June 30 every year. This return has to be renewed on an annual basis. The deadline to file the return is the last day of the month following your first used month during the tax period.
For example, if you have filed a Form 2290 return for a truck on April 14, 2020, for the tax year 2019-2020 and use the truck during July 2020 you have to file your return again within August 30, 2020, for the tax year 2020-2021.
